Florida Tax Watch Recognizes Boys & Girls Clubs Florida Alliance

Florida TaxWatch Research Institute, Inc., with assistance from MGT of America, Inc., conducted a comprehensive study of the economic impact of Florida Boys & Girls Clubs on local communities throughout the state.

The study compared the behavioral and academic performance of FBGC members to a peer reference group of students attending the same Florida public schools and the statewide student population.

Key findings included:

The overall learning gains in reading and mathematics for the FBGC members were greater than the peer reference group and the statewide student population.

Rates of absenteeism and serious criminal offenses were  significantly lower at all grade levels for FBGC participants.

If the statewide dropout rate had been as low as the rate for the FBGC members in the study, there would be 11,293 additional high school graduates a year.  The state would also save $214,061 annually in juvenile justice cost avoidance.

TBTF Upgrades Zonta Boys & Girls Club Computer Lab
The idea to install computer labs in Boys and Girls Clubs began five years ago by the TBTF.  It all started in the Zonta Club. Since then, Zonta has had three iterations of computer labs. Today, the Zonta Club is the most state of the art of all the local Boys and Girls Club labs.

The lab was re-opened on April 16 with the help of Ray Morganti and TBTF.  Thank you for your continued support in helping bridge the technology gap.
