2021 NEW YORK YANKEES HOMECOMING DINNER HONOREES

It will be a very special night at this year’s New York Yankees Homecoming Dinner, as we honor both CC and Amber Sabathia. Together, CC and Amber have had an amazing impact on both the Yankees organization and the New York Yankees Foundation. CC’s contribution on the field was matched by Amber’s contribution off the field with the PitCCh In Foundation – a great combination of amazing pitching and championship charity work.

CC SABATHIA

PRIDE OF THE YANKEES

CC SABATHIA is being honored with the annual Pride of the Yankees Award for his stellar 11-year career in pinstripes. The Vallejo, Calif. native retired in 2019 after 19 years in the majors, after having won the Cy Young Award in 2007 and appearing in six All-Star Games. In 2009, after winning the ALCS MVP Award, he helped lead the Bronx Bombers to their 27th World Series®title. On April 30, 2019, CC joined the 3,000-strikeout club, becoming only the third lefty in Major League Baseball®history to do so.

AMBER SABATHIA

CHAMPION OF THE FOUNDATION

AMBER SABATHIA this year’s Champion of the Foundation, has been Co-Founder/Executive Director of the PitCCh In Foundation since its inception in 2008. The foundation showcases three signature programs that provide young people with the tools to be successful in school and on the field: the All-Star Baseball Clinic, Youth Backpack Program, and field renovations. Amber and CC were motivated not only by the idea of giving back, but by developing a long-term platform to provide young people with the skills and confidence to make their dreams become a reality. Amber has spearheaded the PitCCh In Foundation Celebrity Softball Game for the last several years, raising funds for both the PitCCh In Foundation and the New York Yankees Foundation.

THE NEW YORK YANKEES FOUNDATION AT WORK

The Homecoming Dinner serves as the primary fundraiser for the New York Yankees Foundation and allows us to support those in our community and home.

In response to the difficulties that have arisen due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the New York Yankees organization has dedicated resources to Community Partners such as: Bronx Chamber of Commerce, Citymeals on Wheels, Food Bank for NYC, Hispanic Federation, NYC Department of Education, NYC Health & Hospitals, and Salvation Army of Greater NY – ensuring that our community has basic needs such as food, shelter, and health services during this challenging time.

This year, we are pleased to align with our “Spring Training home” in Tampa, Fla., by supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. While the annual in-person New York Yankees Luncheon benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay has been canceled, the support from the Homecoming Dinner will enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. The New York Yankees applaud the work of the Boys & Girls Clubs and our Pride of the Yankees honoree, CC Sabathia, is an alumnus of the program. CC was a participant in his local club for seven years while growing up in Vallejo, Calif. and continues to support multiple boys & Girls Clubs through support from the PitCCh In Foundation.
