Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay launches following merger

Two long-standing youth development organizations, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast, have officially merged under a new name: Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay.
The merged organization combines decades of experience, leadership and community impact across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. Leaders say the move will allow the organization to expand services, strengthen partnerships and serve thousands more children and families throughout the region.
“This name change marks the start of an exciting new chapter, one that honors two powerful legacies while creating even greater opportunities for the young people who count on us,” said Freddy Williams, president and chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay. “Young people do not care about county lines; they care about being seen, supported and set up for success. By coming together, we’re not just unifying our name; we’re uniting our commitment to deliver the very best to every child who walks through our doors.”
Williams, a proud Boys & Girls Club alumnus, brings more than 15 years of leadership experience to the role, including a track record of double-digit revenue growth and national recognition during his tenure with the Suncoast Clubs.
The merger follows months of collaboration between both organizations’ boards of directors and guidance from Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Officials said the decision was grounded in cultural alignment, operational efficiency and a shared mission to expand access to academic, leadership, workforce readiness and wellness programs.
The new organization now operates 65 Club locations and school sites, serving more than 24,000 youth, annually. Officials said daily schedules and programs will remain consistent at Club locations and no closures are planned.
“Our national movement is seeing more of these kinds of integrations in major metropolitan areas,” Williams said. “This alignment puts us on a stronger path for growth, innovation and greater impact.”
